Back on June 15, 2002, we put out this array of bathroom floor tiles to measure the timing, density and growth of juvenile oysters in Wellfleet Harbor.
We began collecting tiles on July 24th, and weekly thereafter.
These tiles are typical of what we've been seeing (check back each week for the next tile):

After the collection on September 4th, we began collecting tiles placed on the monitoring station from July 24th (and weekly thereafter). In this manner, we hope to observe any subsequent sets of oysters. As of September 12th, we had not observed any significant secondary set. Stay tuned, though, as we will post images of any tiles with a secondary set. |
