Placopecten magellanicus, sea scallop
Although a bit larger than bay scallops, another well liked scallop is the sea scallop. They are usually found in deeper water which requires specialized equipment. For this reason, they are not usually harvested by recreational fishermen.
Serve raw, fried, broiled, escalloped or in stew.
