Contestants had 2 minutes and 30 seconds to shuck as many oysters as possible,
each worth 4 points. Presentation, however, counts, and penalties were
assessed for less than perfect oysters:
- 1 point was deducted for each of the following - shell in the oyster, the
meat not totally in the shell, the meat severely cut, and/or the oyster not
free of the bottom shell;
- 4 points were deducted for each of the following - oyster out of the shell
(or upside down), and/or blood on the oyster.
