There are a variety of hand scratch rakes such as these, used mostly to harvest quahaugs, but occasionally to catch soft shell clams.

There are a lot of ways to measure your shellfish to make sure you have legal sized animals, but we recommend a set of rings: 3" for oysters, 2" for soft shell clams and 1" for quahaugs.
